My Racing...

The highlight came Sunday...

Nebraska State Cyclocross Championship Weekend
Saturday:
Cat 3: DFL (no warmup will do that to ya'...)
35+: 8th place

Sunday:
35+: 3rd place overall
Masters 35-44 State Champion

My prediction for JP's global dominance didn't quite work out today, but he still rode well, and finished third in the Nebraska state championship in the 1-2-3 class -- a great ride. Congratulations Jesse! You've had a super impressive '07 'cross campaign.

Congratulations also to Darin Schlake and Troy Krause, the #1 and #2 cyclocrossers in Nebraska in 2007. You guys were awesome out there today.

There are a ton of people I need to thank -- John Lefler Jr., Cindy Lefler, John Peterson, the Coffee guy that came out from Iowa -- sorry your name is escaping me right now, but thank you -- coffee is one of my very favorite things, so I really appreciate you driving your beautiful bus out to the races and pressing beans for us java junkies. Thanks to my beautiful wife Laura for coming out to the races both days -- the support was awesome, especially on Sunday!! Thanks also to CVO, Jackie, The Wills family, Emily, Zeek, Showen, Fob, Stephanie, Cornbread...everyone up on Hooligan Hill for all the hollerin'. On the last lap of my race, when I was on the rivet but was able to make the pass for third place on the course finally stick, it was cool that Hooligan Hill was where it happened, with all of you crazy people hollerin' for me. It really did make a difference for me.

Salsa Cycles makes incredible cyclocross bikes, and I was reminded of that fact today. If a better handling 'cross frame exists, there are some pretty lucky people in the world, because I've never wanted for so little in a bicycle as I do in my Chili Con Crosso. I've had quite a few 'cross frames over the years, and none compare to the CCC in terms of handling, front-to-rear balance, weight, comfort and value. Yeah, I feel pretty fortunate to ride the equipment I ride...

With that in-mind, my final thank you of the night goes out to Jason and the Salsa Cycles crew, and to Nate and Eric at Monkey Wrench Cycles for their support this 2007 season. You are all good friends and teammates no matter what jerseys we're ever wearing.

It's been a great, fun season, full of incredible experiences. Thank you so much to everyone who has been a part of it.

Thanks brother, both for the kind words, and for all your hollering and support this past weekend. And that smile on my face, it wasn't tough to have. It was there because I was exactly where I wanted to be -- on my bike, in the midst of some of my favorite people in the world.

Thanks again CVO. Can't wait 'til we're rippin' it up again together. It'll be soon...

Cheers,
MG

Way to go, Sunshine! You had some beautiful weather to race in; so glad it was a positive weekend for you. Dongrats!
Loved seeing you and Laura on Friday night. Wasn't that a nice family get together? Did you have a good visit with Grandpa? Saw you deep in conversation with him. A new hearing aid can do wonders, can't it?
You both have a great Thanksgiving! Send positive vibes up toward Fremont for me in the Turkey Trot! I'll need them a lot.
As always, all my love,
Mom

Thanks Mom -- We had a great time Friday night, and yeah, it's great to have Grandpa's hearing back. We talked more than we had in quite a long time. It was awesome.

Good luck at Turkey Trot! I'll be thinking about you.

Love you Mom,
MG
