Welcome to Summer 2006 -- it's gonna' be a good one!

It's that time of year again: Summer is upon us, and from where I sit, life is looking pretty darn good. In the ebb and flow of life, it seems like things are starting to flow again, and the future for Laura and I, at least for the forseeable future, is looking awesome.

As many of you know, but some may not, Laura was offered, and accepted, a position with the Lincoln Public Schools to teach at Prescott Elementary for the 2006-2007 school year. That was a HUGE hurdle to overcome. As any teacher in-the-know will tell you, LPS is a very hard district to get into. Even though Laura graduated at the very top of her class, this position has taken two full years to come to fruition. To say that it's satisfying for her to finally achieve that goal would be an incredible understatement.

In two years when Laura is getting recognized at LPS' 'teacher of the year', I know they'll be awfully glad they hired her. :-} She's already my "teacher of the year." And she is every year...

I also just found out about 20 minutes ago that I'M GETTING PROMOTED here at SRA. I don't want to say much about this other than to say that I'm very excited that the hard work I've been putting in has been recognized, and I'm also stoked that MWC will continue to be just across the street from my office for the forseeable future. I really love a lot of aspects about my job too, and I feel very lucky to represent the great companies I do with the media.

Life has a strange way of giving us the things we need to live. Where if you asked me a month ago where we'd be living in 9 months, I'd have likely said somewhere in Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho or New Mexico, I can confidently (and happily) say that 9 months from now, we'll be right here in Lincoln... and that's a nice thing to be able to say. The Universe has clearly spoken, and it looks like this is where we're meant to be right now.

Happy Summer friends!

Congrats to both of y'all. Good news all around.

You did ask for more vacation time, right?

Good question... and the answer is yes, sorta'. I didn't have to ask, because I automatically started getting more vacation on my 5th anniversary here, which was back in March.

Bottom line, with Laura having summers off, we aspire to increase the number of trips we take to see y'all in the mountains considerably, especially over our recent frequency (or lack thereof).

thanks cornbread. how'd the hand fare the nwtt?

thanks too for letting me use your light head-unit for that run. it was the critical difference. if you don't have a HID, it's way tougher to go fast at night.

thanks again buddy,

thanks anne. you're so sweet... laura and i are really happy to see that both of our hard work is starting to pay off. it's been a long time coming.

sadly, i'm going to have to miss swanson, 'cuz i'm headed up to milwaukee tomorrow for the NASCAR Busch Series race up there. One of my clients sponsors a car that's racing, and I'm up there to play host to some special guests of my client.

good luck at swanson anne, and thanks again for the sweet message.

cheers,
