It's gettin' to be racing season and starting this weekend the races are coming on hot and heavy.
Nebraska's 20th anniversary Psycowpath Series kicks off Saturday with the Jewell Park Time Trial. If you'd like to get seeded in the time trial, be sure to get pre-registered by Friday. I'm definitely gonna' be hitting this one... Should be fun. I'll be taking the El Mariachi up.
On April 10, the United Federation of Dirt is hosting the River Trail Mountain Bike Challenge at the Lawrence, KS River Trails. Those guys always put on a great event, so I'd recommend you check that one out. I probably won't be able to make the trip, but if you're able, I bet it'll be a good time.
The following weekend is stacked to the hilt. Lincoln's own Pirate Cycling League is putting on the Tour of Dirt Roads III on Sunday, April 18. This is typically an 80-100 mile dirt and gravel road ride, and the first two editions of the ride featured big, fast groups and awesome routes. If you're in town that weekend and are up for a good dose of Vitamin G, this is where you can get some. Cornbread and the crew will be rollin'.
The Bone Bender 3/6-hour MTB Odyssey at Smithville Lake in Missouri is also coming up on April 18. This is a sweet venue for those who love tasty singletrack. It's probably where I'll end up going, and it sounds like CVO, MW and perhaps a few other Lincoln locals will be in the same boat. Nothing against gravel, but we're gonna' get plenty of that over the course of the season... The Big Mama's itchin' for some action!
Then on April 24-25 is the Big One -- TransIowa v.6. If I make it through this one, my 2010 season will be looking very good. Keep your fingers crossed...
Hope to see lots of you out on the trails and at events coming up this month!
Cheers,
MG

Hope to see you at Bonebender. As long as we don't have the same conditions as last year, I'll be pretty happy.
What do you mean "if"? You're gonna make it. Can't wait. Remember, when you're on mile 280 - this is fun, that's why we do it.
See you soon.

Oh yeah... I'm definitely planning on the Bonebender. That looks like a great time and I love the trails down there at Smithville Lake.
And Tim, you're right... I have no intention of failing during T.I. I think any questions I may have revolve more around the potential status of the roads, especially the B roads, but it seems things are beginning to shape up nicely for our late-April run. It's looking vastly better than it was just a couple of weeks ago. That much is certain!
I'm also certain you'll be flyin' when I see you over there in Iowa. It's going to be fun to witness.
Have a great weekend and I'll look forward to seeing you both soon.
Cheers,
MG
