Guitar Ted... Not a One-Trick Pony... But a Darn Good Guy.

MG finishing TransIowa v.5, by Guitar Ted. Photo: MG

So this past Tuesday I was home sick with the nasty cold that everybody's been coming down with lately. So when I finally got out of bed at almost 2pm and wandered out to see what the mailman had delivered, it was with great surprise that I found this gem packaged delicately inside a large manila envelope with an Iowa return address.

It seems Guitar Ted, my big wheeled Brother to the east, has some skills he's been holding back! This is his interpretation of my TransIowa v.5 finish last year, and I have to say, it's a good one... I feel very, very fortunate to have been given this very generous gift.

This means so much to me because it immortalizes what was one of the most impactful single rides of my entire life. And it's something I know was not insignificant for Guitar Ted to do and complete, and for someone as busy as him, that's a really special thing too.

Thank you Guitar Ted. I can honestly say that my friendship with you has made me a better person, and that's a testament to you, my Brother.

Hope you're having a great time up with Jason, Kid and the crew up at Frostbike. I wish I was up there with you guys...

So true... Hey Steve, I'm leaving work right now. I'll give you a shout on my ride home.

Thank you MG. It's my pleasure, and an honor to know you.

Well, I saw THE bike, and I gotta say, I so envy Jason! That is sweetness in titanium, my friend!

Salsa is kicking up the spice a notch or two as well. I wish you were up here to share your thoughts on it. Very cool stuff!

Talk to ya soon!

Thanks Brother. I wish I was up there too. Maybe next year I will be, but since you and I are typically in cahoots on design related stuff, your opinion is likely pretty similar to what I'd offer up...

But man, it'd be fun to be able to be with up in MPLS with you guys, and don't think I haven't been thinking about Frostbike and all that's going on up there, because I definitely have. Sounds like a ton of cool stuff!

My question is, when does G.T. sleep? This is one busy guy, but I too love him for it. Nice work Mark!

MG, looking good I must say.

Iowa is on my mind every day.

G-Ted wears many hats indeed & this is proof that he wears those hats well!

MG was good talking to you yesterday, hope you had a good ski run, man I'm so STOKED! It's just killing me looking at this setting here in my basement & not having parts for it yet...SOOON!

LOL... I hear ya' Tim. I've seen Mark sleep, but it's a rare sight indeed. He's one of the busiest guys I know.

And like you, TI's on my mind every single day right now... Like an obsession. A good one, but one nonetheless.

Hey, are you going over to the CIRREM ride in Des Moines this weekend? Hope to see you there, if you are going. Laura and I are planning on making the trip.

Bergen, enjoy that new Fargo frame... You're gonna' have a ton of fun with it. I can't wait to get out and ride with you, Chad and the crew out at Potters, or even on some of that sweet western Nebraska gravel soon. Meanwhile, enjoy that new bike build, and let me know if you have any questions, or need anything from me.

Cheers, my friends,
MG
