Big Wheel Ballyhoo 2009

Guitar Ted is bringing his Big Wheeled Ballyhoo to Nebraska's Potter's Pasture October 10-11, 2009. It's something you won't want to miss, as there's going to be 2 1/2 days of big wheels, beer, bands and one of the best private singletrack stashes in the state. It's gonna' be a great time. Sponsors currently include Gary Fisher bicycles and Salsa Cycles, along with Cycle Sport of North Platte, and other companies will be announced soon.
Corrected: CQ on his Big Mama on "Two Dogs" @ Potter's Pasture - by Llama - from Potter's Pasture MTB

There's a close-knit group of locals from the North Platte and Ogallala area plus myself, working with Guitar Ted on this project and we've gotten a very positive response both locally and from the bicycle industry at large. Those "locals" include Kyle Vincent, Matt Bergen and Chad Quigley. We'll be supplemented by a cast of PCL castaways that I'll bring with me from Lincoln and it sounds like we're going to have representation from our good buddy Dave at Redstone Cyclery out in Lyons, Colorado. If we're lucky, that means we might even see the new stuff from Intense and Turner comin' on down with him... Wouldn't that be sweet? I've heard from a couple of shops in Lincoln too who are talking about joining in -- until they firm up their plans, I won't call them out just yet however. The more the merrier, as far as I'm concerned...
Potter's Pasture has some good singletrack. You'll be stoked...

There's going to be guided singletrack rides and Salsa Fargo-sponsored singletrack/gravel "blends," so there's will be a ride for virtually every type of big wheel dirt lover. Plus, did I mention, there's going to be live music, great beer and free camping too?!! Yeah, this is something you've gotta' get onto your calendar and be sure to check out. I'm just sayin'... You'll be sorry if you miss it. It may not happen twice in Nebraska. If we lose the Ballyhoo Brewdown, the event could go to another state in 2010. Don't know what the Ballyhoo Brewdown is? Better visit the Website and find out... http://bigwheeledballyhoo.com/

Can't wait, it's going to be fun. We'll be representing with some Dale's, too.

Oh yeah... Dales is Da Bomb!! Bring on the Old Chubb too!! Heck, bring Dale, Melis and the rest of the posse down with ya' while you're at it! That'd be radical!

I'm starting to pimp it now. We should hopefully have a fair sized crew in attendance.

Really looking forward to working with you guys on the Ballyhoo. More and more folks from out of state are stopping by Potters with knowledge of the Ballyhoo. The word is starting to spread!

FYI - I think I snapped the first shot about 3/4 of the way down "Two Dogs", which is a really great, technical downhill trail.

Got a RSVP. First of many I hope.

I'm going to be in the Lincoln/Omaha area the week of 6-1/6-5. We need to hook up somewhere in there.

Matt,
Let me know details when you get them and I will post it and hopefully get some of the adventure racing crowd out there. Good job this weekend at the 12 Hour. Jim.

I am going to do my best to make sure we do not lose the Homebrew competition!!

And I want to enjoy some Salsa goodness and camaraderie while I am there...this event is going to be a blast.

Thanks guys -- great to hear we've already got an RSVP, Guitar Ted. Don't kid yourself... This is going to be a big deal.

Matt, Thanks for the clarification on the photo... I'll get that corrected. Can't wait to actually ride the trail with you guys. The Big Mama will rip it!!

And let's definitely plan on hooking up around 6/5 in Lincoln. Whoever wants/needs to crash at my place is totally welcome. We'll build a big 'ol fire in the fire ring, have some beer and Templeton Rye (provided we can find some by then)... It'll be sweet. Sort of a 'pre-Ballyhoo, ballyhoo'... with a little 'b'.

CJ, my man... That sounds like a winner. Brew it up. Make it good... and thank you in advance. Your effort will not be for naught.

Jim, thanks for the kind words and in advance for the offer to promote the Ballyhoo through your site. The full details are available at http://bigwheeledballyhoo.com/ and that's where Guitar Ted will post any updates to the schedule, brewing competition rules or sponsors/giveaways, so it's best to check back to the site on a regular basis (I'd recommend several times daily -- so would your employer).

With that, I'll leave you all to file your toenails, or whatever you were doing.

Cheers,
MG

Oh man, that sounds like a lot, and I mean a lot of fun.

I get to chat with my boss in about a week to find out the details of the end of my season, and the start of next one.

This might be an event I should try to make and then head back to Mexico.
I'll see if I can swing it. sounds like a lot of fun.
