Rigged for Racin' at Manawa...

I'm looking forward to the 12-hour race up at Lake Manawa this weekend. It's the third weekend of super-long rides for me, and I'm stoked with how my body is holding up. I feel noticeably stronger today than I did going into the 12-hour race in Iowa two weeks ago, and I was able to win that one.

There will inevitably be some tough competition at Lake Manawa however, so I'm far from assured of the victory. That said, if I ride a strategically sound race, I believe I have a good shot at earning another win this weekend.

If I feel good this weekend, I've recently started thinking of making the trip down to Landahl for the Granny Gear 24-hour race next weekend. My chances of making the trip were bolstered this morning when I received a code that would give me 20-percent off my registration (originally $325, so every bit helps). That would be my first solo 24-hour effort, but I guess I figure that, things are going well right now, so I might as well ride the wave for all it's worth. I haven't enjoyed this level of fitness in a few years, so I understand how fortunate I am right now.

Isn't it ironic that, in order to prepare for the one hour races of 'cross, I'm doing a heavy dose of ultra endurance mountain bike races and rides? But after 3-4 weeks of spending 12+ hours on the bike on at least one weekend day, the hour racing 'cross will seem like it's over quickly.

Life is good. And just think, tomorrow at this time (9:38am), I'll be getting ready to race. That's fun to think about...

Hope to see lots of people out at Manawa Saturday!!

Cheers,
MG

Matt, Donna Holmes is working on the Psycowpath awards and needs bikes chains and spokes. We told her that you might have some...
Would you email me to let me know, if you do or if you know someone who does?

Thanks mg!

thanks jason, harp and christine. i had an awesome time yesterday, and winning was the cherry on top.

that said, i don't think i'm going to go down to landahl next week. the effort yesterday has me feeling like i'm coming down with a cold, so i'm gonna' take it easy for a week before we start into the 'cross racing action.

christine -- i have quite a few spokes and old chains i can get to donna. i'll send you an e-mail and we'll get 'er hooked up.

cheers,
mg
