Tucker Dog's Victory Tour...

Tucker Dog -- The best dog a guy could ever ask for. Rest in Peace, SuperDog.

As I sit here with tears streaming down my face, it's almost impossible to come up with words that accurately express the love, adoration and admiration I have for our dog Tucker. He's been with Laura and I for almost eleven of his fourteen years on earth, and we're fortunate for every single day we've had with him.

Well, today is Tucker's final day. Tonight, Tucker's body will return to the Earth from which he was created, and his spirit will be free of a body that, of late, has been showing the wear of a lot of good miles traveled.

But today, we celebrate the life of a dog who, for a lot of people, rose well above being 'just a dog,' and was a teacher, companion, beacon of love and affection, a shoulder to cry on and was the best, most loyal friend anyone could ask for. I love him so much... I don't know what else to say.

Don't grieve for Tucker. Just know that he is a big part of who I am today, and he will not be forgotten. Ever.

Matt and Laura I'm so sorry for thr loss of Tucker. I found this for a friend a while back and as hard as it is to read it is just something that I'm sure Tucker would love to say to you....

Um, don't read if you're at work.

To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.
For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.

I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives. My life was fuller because you were there, not as a master/owner, but as my FRIEND.

Today I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the Sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures.
I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging.

We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.
You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are so rare and unique.
Don't hold the love that you have within yourself. Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

I wish I had comforting words for you buddy.

This is a tough loss for you, Matt. But as you said, celebrate all those years you had with Tucker. Those memories will last forever.

All the best for today and the next few weeks. It's never easy.

Focus on the time you had with Tucker and enjoy the memories.

Tough loss...

When I opened up your blog and saw him I knew it before you said it, and the first thing that popped into my head was watching Tucker jump up into your lap in that orange chair while we all lived in Boulder. Man, that dog loved you. That and how much he loved chasing squirrels in the snow. I'll miss him too - he was a great dog that lived a great dog life.

laura and i just returned from laying him to rest on laura's parents' land near gretna -- he loved that place.

MG and Laura, I had lost CHELSEA, my female 12 year old Jack Russell Terrier last May. She was my first dog and they when Martin came into out life she became our dog. WE had already gotten Whiskers, but having to let Chelsea go was the toughest thing that the two of us had to go trough...
I am feeling your pain and loss and I am even crying, about the loss of Tucker , about your loss.
I still catch myself tearing up about some Chelsea-memory but I also learnt, that those memories don't fade. I carry them deep in my heart and souls. She was, is and will always be there and so will Tucker, He has touched your heart and your soul and he will stay in there. It's a warm and fuzzy feeling and the knowledge that you gave him a good life and I am sure you will meet him again !!
I am sending hugs and barks from VeloCC and Mr.Whiskers

You are all so kind and sweeet. Christine, thank you for sharing your story about Chelsea, and it was great to see you guys, Mr. Whiskers included, this weekend.

It's at times like these when Laura and I feel extremely lucky to have such supportive friends like all of you. Thank you so much.

matty-
i just read this today and i am heartbroken. tucker was such a special dog and i have many fond memories of him.

the first of many that stuck me just now was when he almost came through the window at your old duplex when he thought laura and i were intruders.

what a lucky doggie and how lucky were we all to know him.

i love you big brother...

adrian, chad and traci -- thank you so much. we were really, really lucky to have tucker as our dog, and while i still cry when i see pictures of tucker and i together (witness me two hours ago seeing a pic mitch kline sent me), it's just because i miss my best friend. i know he's in a better place now, and i know we did the right thing at the right time.

it's just hard anytime you lose a good buddy...

love you too, traci.
