Declaring Independence...

After a late night last night, JP and I got a 10:30am start and made a beeline for Wilderness. After the sprinkles yesterday, traction conditions were about as good as they get, especially for July. It was a perfect sixth ride in six days for me, so I wasn't feeling super fresh, but surprisingly I wasn't as cooked as I thought I'd be. The cooler weather is certain to have played a factor in that...
We saw a ton of people out there -- Em and Dave were at the Pioneers Blvd. entrance of the park, playing fetch with their dogs. Not far into the trail, we came upon Crazy Dave, and a little later we met up with JP's sweetie, the young Francis, as she ran backwards through the park. We saw Skip out by 14th street, and after JP dropped off to meet up his girlie, I even saw a pair of related Joels ripping through the park in the x-tra primo conditions.
Here's some pics I shot on the ride:
The Ti Bontrager -- perhaps the best handling hardtail ever? I think so.

JP: "Whatcha' think the dirt is going to be like today?"
MG: "I think it's going to be absolutely perfect."
... and it was.
