Catz at Platte???

I don't think it was a mountain lion track we saw last night...

More likely, it was a coyote, whose print looks much more like the one we saw last night. The print on the left is a mtn. lion. The one on the right is a coyote.

The track we saw had what looked like three toes. I think in the powdery conditions, we were seeing the two front toes as one. the space between those toes and the pad is also consistent with what we saw last night.

Who knows though??? I can't imagine that there have never been mountain lions in Platte River State Park, considering they just had one hit by a car at the Gretna exit of I80, or about 5 miles away. Did I mention that mountain lions often travel up to 25 miles a day in search of food? Yeah, they've been to the park I bet...

Thanks to the crew that braved the big cats and showed for the ride last night. It was funner than a robot bullride in a swingin' country bar, it was! Yehawwww!!!

Now get back to work.

"here kitty, kitty..."

uh, maybe not.

i'll still ride out there at night. if redstone still does hall ranch at night, i'll sure as heck be doin' platte whenever possible... especially that "peace treaty" lap we did on the second go-round...

... anyone else up for riding ruthies/001 the other direction? it's way funner, except for that hateful 30 second climb out of the bottom on 001.

Happy Frieday!

Well, I, erh, uh, don't ride Hall solo at night much anymore. Cat scares and I've had the local PTA president threaten to call the sheriff on me (park closes at dusk). That said, I'll still ride in the forest at night so I guess I'm just afraid of Alpha-Moms! Probably not too many of them at Platte.
